$500 Million Bug

It happened in 1961—just a little under a year after brothers Tom and James Monaghan had purchased a pizza restaurant, DomiNick’s, for $500. After eight months of running the business as a partnership, James Monaghan decided to trade his stake to his brother for a used Volkswagen Beetle.

Fast-forward 38 years, and Tom Monaghan decided to retire and sell most of the company that was now known as Domino’s Pizza. He got a bit more than the price of a used Volkswagen Beetle, though: He sold 93 percent of the company for $1 billion. One can only imagine the awkwardness at the Monaghan family gatherings. “So, how’s that Beetle running?”

Litter Box Cake

So a cat walks into a deli

In a truly heartwarming display of affection, a smiling deli clerk was amused by a stray cat who wandered into his store, stood up on hind legs (while leaning against the glass of the counter) and meowed for a bit of attention. The clerk quite humorously presented different cuts of meat for the feline’s approval. After pointing out which cut was the best, the cat was rewarded with a healthy piece of meat.

This cat walked into a deli and made their way over to the counter. After standing up on their hind legs, they watched as an employee showed them various cuts of meat before they were fed a small piece.

McGenius?

Posted over the weekend to the McDonald’s New Zealand Facebook page with the caption “McGenius?” the interlocking containers would put a sandwich on top of a beverage cup, covered by a fry bin that would have indentations on the top where you could store condiments.

So rather than walking down the street with a to-go bag, you’d have a tower of food.

We’re not quite sure it would be a good idea to stack a hot sandwich on top of a cold drink (the possibility for condensation, melting ice, and leakage scare us), the top fry layer seems destined to pop open and vomit fried potatoes all over the place, and it all seems rather top-heavy, so if you stub your toe on a curb or get jostled by a rude pedestrian, it seems like your whole lunch could go Jenga on the sidewalk.
