The flight was on route for New York with 259 passengers on board. All 243 passengers and 16 crew members were killed as well as 11 Lockerbie residents. 30 years ago, Pan Am flight 103 exploded at 31,000 feet over Scotland. America had just suffered its first major terrorist attack. 259 people had lost their lives on the plane, and 11 Lockerbie residents died that day as well.
